This is the official website of karen foss quiet works.
The artistic focus of kfqw is to ponder the truths as we know them. Questioning the grounds given, for truths to function as stable and reliable information, what is taken for granted, is destabilized. Doubt comes into play, running as an undercurrent, in all the works.
Powerstructures, willful ambitions, dark brooding moods, intense ambiguity, hurtful admittances, meandering thoughts, elegant expressions, political rage, the works enhance the feeling that something rather uncomfortable is smouldering under the surface. The productions are lavish and sensual, suggesting opulence and beauty.
For the spectator, a quiet works performance will therefore present a wealth of associations and references, suggesting multifaceted interpretations.
The production unit receives support from Arts Council Norway (Norsk Kulturråd) and other public funding organisations such as The Fund for Performing Arts (Fond for utøvende kunstnere), The Fund for Sound and Image (Fond for lyd og bilde) and Bergen City Council.
Bergen International Theatre (BIT teatergarasjen) and the contemporary dance company Carte Blanche AS have acted as
co-producers on past productions.
